Giving

OCS doesn’t sell a product or service. We don’t have market share or profit margins. We rely on donations and grants to help thousands of local families in need. Contributions are greatly appreciated, and donations are tax-deductible. Every dollar given can provide four meals from our pantry, and generous contributions keep emergency assistance programs available.

All gifts to OCS are tax-deductible as allowed by federal and state law. OCS is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Your dollars matter!

MORE WAYS TO DONATE

• Checks may be mailed or brought to our offices at 500 E. Lorain St., Oberlin, OH 44074. Please make checks payable to Oberlin Community Services.

• OCS encourages gifts of stocks and mutual funds. This kind of gift allows you to receive a charitable deduction for the full, fair-market value of the gift without being subject to a capital gains tax on the appreciation.

• Talk to your financial advisor about giving via a Donor Advised Fund. It’s like a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations such as OCS. Giving via a DAF generally makes you eligible for an immediate tax deduction!

• Use a Qualified Charitable Distribution to give from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) directly to OCS, which can be excluded from your taxable income. This strategy is particularly beneficial for donors ages 70.5 and older, since it can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) requirements without increasing your taxable income.

• Set up a charitable trust to support OCS in the long-term. This may allow you to receive tax benefits and/or income while ensuring designated assets are used philanthropically.

• Your financial advisor or DAF manager may ask for OCS’ Employer Identification Number. It is 34-0907948.
