Year-Long AmeriCorps VISTA Associate

• Full-time Monday through Friday during OCS business hours
• One-year, non-renewable contract
• Living stipend: $957.46 biweekly
• Housing Stipend: $200 monthly
• Choice of end of service award: $7,395 education award or $1,800 cash award

You can help OCS beef up our capacity to get to food to people in southern Lorain County! We're partnering with AmeriCorps to hire a full-time VISTA associate to serve a one-year term, focusing on special projects that will have a long-term positive impact on our operations.

The VISTA will:
• Work closely with the Resilience Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.
• Improve access to fresh, nutritious, sustainable food for low-income community members struggling with food insecurity.
• Develop programs for Janet’s Community Kitchen at the Cooper Community Resource Center, 500 E. Lorain St., Oberlin.
• Explore the feasibility of various course types, using surveys, research, and creating partnerships with local experts to find what classes/workshops will best suit our client base.
• Develop feasible classes/workshops into pilot programs.
• Develop screening and training processes for kitchen volunteers, then recruit volunteers for the kitchen.
• Create organizational processes for information related to kitchen programs.
• Participate in staff meetings and training.
