Services for Seniors
Our seniors are integral members of our community. We offer many programs to support our seniors in this community. Thanks to our volunteers from Kendal at Oberlin, we have seniors helping seniors.
Income eligible seniors (age 60 and over) can sign up for a food box, a 30 lb pre-packed box of shelf-stable food once a month. Depending on where you live, multiple pickup sites are located at OCS and across southern Lorain County
Senior Box Program
OCS participates in the USDA CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program). Boxes contain rice, cereal, snack, cheese, milk, juice, a pre-prepared meal and canned veggies and beans.
Eligibility requires an income of 130% of poverty level or less. This program has specific eligibility guidelines. If you can't get to the pantry, you are welcome to send someone else, but you will need to fill out a proxy form authorizing them.
The boxes are delivered to multiple sites monthly on the third Tuesday of the month. If you are on the delivery list, you will receive your box that day. If you are picking up your senior box, you can come to OCS any time during that 30-day period.
