Our America Counts tutoring is currently divided into two separate programs. Our first is an after-school tutoring program that targets 4th graders who have been selected by staff as needing an extra boost to prepare them for the 5th grade. We hire and train Oberlin College students to work one-on-one or in small groups with the students. We stay in close contact with the teaching staff to help ensure our program helps to directly reinforce classroom learning and prepares students for their 4th grade achievement test.
Additionally,
we work with teachers at Prospect Elementary and Langston Middle Schools
to place math tutors in the classrooms. In-Class tutors help through a
variety of tasks including one-on-one tutoring, homework grading, and
even, on occasion, helping teach a lesson or two.
Parents, if you are interested in having your child participate in the 4th grade after-school program please speak with their teachers or email AmericaCounts@Oberlin.net.
Oberlin College students interested in becoming tutors should check out this site.
Our America Counts program is generously funded through the Oberlin School
Endowment, The Nordson Corporation Foundation, and Oberlin College.
