Cooking Matters – Cooking matters is a cooking and nutrition course that runs during our monthly distributions. It aims to bring folks the resources they need to prepare healthy meals for their families with affordable, accessible, and delicious foods. My Budget Coach – OCS is now offering a free program through Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) called My Budget Coach (MBC). MBC is a year-long program where Coach and Client meet monthly. Professionally trained MBC coaches are serving communities throughout the United States. Our coaches will guide you through the process of creating a spending plan and setting financial goals and will support you as you work to make progress towards achieving lasting financial stability. Economic Development Education and Outreach – OCS, in conjunction with various local companies, and HHW Ohio (formerly Hard Hatted Women) are presenting the Women in Sustainable Employment (WISE) Pathways(TM) Program. Developed by HHW Ohio, WISE Pathways(TM) is a comprehensive program that includes a forty-hour career exploration workshop, leadership development training, a suite of ongoing supportive services tailored to meet women’s specific needs, and assessments that direct participants to further portable, stackable credentials and training in targeted fields. This program is offered to area women that wish to explore non-traditional, in demand jobs in the industry sectors. Please contact OCS for more information.
GED Tutoring – OCS provides tutors and self-directed studying resources for people interested in obtaining their GED on designated weekday evenings. We are also working on securing funding to help pay for the costs of taking the test.
Experimental College – OCS is happy to host ExCos– courses taught by Oberlin College students and Oberlin community members which are open and free to the public.
Flu Clinics are occasionally offered at OCS by the Lorain County General Health District. You can also schedule an immunization at a location close to you by calling 440-284-3206.
