  • Food

Food distribution is one of OCS’ most often used resources. Our choice pantry is open 9-11:45am and 1-4:45pm Monday through Friday. We will be closed on February 20th for Presidents’ Day.

The food in our pantry comes from Second Harvest of North Central Ohio, donations from food drives, and some purchased food.

If you need to access a food pantry, visit our Daily Pantry page. You can also always check our Events Calendar to see when our next large-scale food distributions are (they are highlighted in red).

We are dedicated to promote a healthy community by increasing availability and access to healthy food. OCS is involved in programs to provide healthy food in our pantry while also being responsive to the preferences and needs of constituents. We offer classes on cooking and nutrition, and the People’s Garden grows fresh produce that anyone can glean. We’re also excited about food justice projects that help build food security networks in Ohio. For example…

    What is Plant a Row?

From the Garden Writer’s Association Website: “Launched in 1995, Plant A Row is a public service program of the Garden Writers Association and the GWA Foundation. Gardeners are asked to plant an extra row of produce each year and donate their surplus to a local food program, soup kitchens, or service organization to help feed the hungry people in our community.” With the help of some fantastic volunteers, OCS has launched a Plant-A-Row campaign in Oberlin. To get involved, email hrosenb@oberlin.edu, or check out the PAR facebook page.
